Euromedic UK is led by a team who have been together for four years
and who have a successful record in healthcare and other partnership
focussed operations. They are all passionate about delivering high
quality healthcare, and about giving clinical staff a key role in
business success.
In 2003 they were part of the management team that founded Mercury
Health. Mercury was one of the most successful new entrants to the
‘ISTC’ market and was acquired in 2007 by Care UK as the ISTC market
consolidated. The team are:
Keith Evans Chief Executive
Keith has over 15 years experience in establishing, implementing and
operating public-private partnerships in the UK; including start-up
and transferred businesses.
Keith previously held the post of Group Managing Director within
Mercury Health, with overall responsibility for all operational
services across elective surgery, diagnostics and primary care
markets. Prior to Mercury Health, Keith served for nine years as a
Divisional Board Director for the Capita Group plc and had
previously worked for Accenture and BP International.
As well as direct involvement in the delivery of healthcare services
with Mercury Health, Keith has also designed and implemented
public-private partnerships within the transport, education, media
and HR services markets.
Keith has a doctorate in applied mathematics from Oxford
University, where he was also a BP research Fellow.
Paul Hobson Managing Director, Operations
Paul has spent his entire career in healthcare, initially qualifying
as a Diagnostic Radiographer. Building on that clinical base, and
his experience as a Senior Superintendent Radiographer, Paul made
the transition from managing diagnostic services into General
Hospital Management whilst in Swindon, and some three years later
moving to Cheltenham as General Manager for the Acute Hospitals.
Following the successful award of a MBA, Paul moved to private
sector hospital management with Community Hospitals Group plc,
(CHG).
When CHG was acquired by the Swedish group Capio AB in 2002, Paul
took on the role of Managing Director of the new UK Diagnostics
Division, consequently Capio Diagnostics UK was launched in April
2003, delivering both mobile and static MR, CT and DEXA imaging and
Laboratory Services to Capio's hospitals in the UK.
Paul joined Mercury Health in May 2005 as Managing Director -
Diagnostics to lead the development of Diagnostic Services
provision. In December 2006 Mercury Health was awarded a £160
million contract to deliver 190,000 diagnostic tests per annum to
the West Midlands Region.
Steve Breach Finance Director
Steve has worked in finance throughout his career. He qualified as a
chartered accountant with Ernst & Young, working in the Thames
Valley and
Czech Republic. Much of his time was spent in the corporate finance
practice working on significant fund raising activities and
corporate
transactions.
In 2002, Steve completed a secondment to the CBI where he was a
special
adviser to Sir Digby Jones, the Director General of the CBI at that
time and now Minister of State for Trade and Investment.
Steve was a key member of the team which founded Mercury Health and
became its finance director in the latter part of 2003. Steve played
a central role in structuring and implementing the extensive
healthcare delivery arrangements which Mercury Health entered into
with a variety of PCTs and NHS Trusts, and was responsible for the
financial and commercial aspects of those partnerships.
Mark Smith Managing Director, Oncology
Mark has worked in the healthcare industry for over thirty years.
Following a successful clinical career in nursing Mark subsequently
developed a track record of delivery across a range of healthcare
organisations, public and private. He has extensive experience of
PFI and PPP models of partnership, having been instrumental in deals
since the first wave PFI scheme he closed at Swindon.
He has served on the boards of three NHS Trusts, in development,
operational and chief executive roles. In 2002 he joined Amey Plc as
Managing Director, Health, before starting Mercury Health in 2003.
In the last four years Mark has been the inaugural co-chair of the
NHS Confederation independent healthcare members, and sat on the
council of the NHS Confederation. He was the first chair of the NHS
Partners Network. He is also a non-executive director of Chas. H.
Blatchford and Sons. He has an MBA from Henley Management College.
Anne Stewart
Director Clinical Services
From qualifying as a radiographer in November 1981, Anne pursued a career in MRI working in The Royal Marsden in London followed by senior managerial roles within HealthSouth, Lodestone (MIA),and Capio. Working as Director of Operations for Mercury Health Anne implemented the Mercury Health Diagnostic Contract within West Midlands Diagnostics.
Anne joined the Euromedic team with a clear responsibility to ensure that the company is proactively working within the framework of statutory regulations and healthcare standards. Anne is also responsible for the operational deliveries within Euromedic's dialysis centres.
Patrick Beasley FRCS
Medical Director
Patrick was a Consultant ENT Surgeon in Exeter for 30 years. During this time he introduced a number of new clinical services and held regional and national positions as College Adviser for Surgery in the South West and Secretary of the British Association of Otolaryngologists. He joined the Board of his Trust as Medical Director for five years.
He joined the Board of Mercury Health as Group Medical Director and served for four years with responsibility for clinical governance and medical staffing and working with PCT commissioners and the DoH.
He is now Chairman of Hospiscare a large community based specialist palliative care organisation with a central hospice covering Mid and East Devon.
